T R A V E L

I have been very lucky in the first 19 years of my life - and I have already managed to travel to 4 continents! This page will tell you all about my experiences so far and places to visit if you are planning on going anywhere I've already been. I also intend to hunt out the best deals for hostels, flights and events for future adventures, so look no further - captain ali has all your needs in mind.

JAPAN
In 2002, I took an almighty 24 hour flight to Japan when I was a measly 7 year old kiddywinkle. All I can say right now is make sure you sleep well, eat well, and walk ALOT during your stops. If there's chance to take a shower half way then do so - you will feel so much better. My mum decided it would be a good idea to have a KFC on one of our stops and we nearly missed our flight. I was half way through a chicken leg when I heard our family name being called overhead because our flight was about to leave without us. Mum thinking she was super clever and shizzle decided to blame me and my brother for being "very sick"... then we were surrounded by Japanese flight attendants asking if we were okay. This plan would have worked much better if our mother would have told us about such plan. When we got there we hired a car that we drove to the top of the country - how hard could it be? All of the signage was in Japanese symbols which I have only recently been told that its called...Katakana - I think, probably wrong. So yeah, good luck with that. Traffic lights - this is so cute! We saw Japanese men bow to say thank you after we had stopped on a red. BEWARE some road-side public toilets are indeed holes in the floor. If you are male, you are lucky. If you are women have fun. If you have children make sure you... hold their arms so they don't fall in...

Things you must do while in Japan -
Go to toy shops, or just any shops they're so so cute - everything has animals on them.
Taiko drumming - very big, loud drums which are sometimes occupied with a flute like thing.
Watch a firework display - I saw a firework waterfall which was actually INCREDIBLE.
Go to a green tea drinking ceremony - take your shoes off and cross your legs.
Flower arranging - very beautiful activity.
Buy a kimono - I think we have 3 because the very lovely Japanese ladies kept giving me them for free, the people are so so so generous to children and everyone for that matter.
Make friends - we met so many lovely and friendly people - pen pals for life!

Things I wish I'd done -
Visit Bunny Island - Okunoshima
Eat a Pikachu burger from the Pokemon cafe in Tokyo
Visit a cat cafe in Tokyo where you can browse a petting menu in addition to food menu.
See a Pikachu school bus.
Ikoma Cable Line to Mt. Ikoma, Nara, Japan
Cat island - Tashirojima.
Zao Fox Village - fox sactuary.
There's so much to do in such a beautiful country - I couldn't recommend it more.
